Quiet Time

Hey girls!

It would be good to do consistent quiet time on your own, as shared by the cell yesterday that it's only possible to trust in God when you know who God is --> through His word!
A suggested passage guideline is listed below for you (if you are not following other guidebooks at the moment):

Tuesday, 8 Jun: Luke 5:12-26
Wednesday, 9 Jun: Luke 5:27-39
Thursday, 10 Jun: Luke 6: 1-11
Friday, 11 Jun: Luke 6:12-26
Saturday, 12 Jun: Luke 6:27-36

See you on sunday! (:

Cheers,
Charlene

OM NOM NOM.

Hey guysssssss! :D

This saturday is going to be steamboat day! The actual steamboat's going to start at seven, but we can prolly meet earlier to swim, go downtown east or the park or anything, then after that sleepover at my house and go for church later;D

So, basically, main feature is, 7 come, the earlier part and sleepover is anything you guys want! If you're sleepingover remember your toothbrush, sleeping clothes and church clothes! (we can colour coordinate HEHE.)

Upon seeing this, text me on
1. Are you coming,
If yes,
2. Are you sleeping over?
3. Do you want to come earlier. :D

Sms, preferably by today if not latest wednesday! TEXTMETEXTME. I'll then reply you with the details if you're coming! If I dont reply either our phones don't like each other and I didn't get it, or you might have smsed to some random wrong number.

So, see yall! :D
Love, joy!

Love is...

1 Corinthians 13

4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

8Love never fails.

With the recent Valentine's Day just passed, we revisit the meaning of love in our society today. Roses, they call it love; Sacrifice of time, they call it love; Marriage, they call it love; Kisses, they call it love; Heart shapes, they call it love. Are these all really what encompass love?

In the world today, I guess the idea of love has been distorted by mankind. When you say you "love" someone, we tend to think of it as something that we give in return for something else. True, you may not tell your loved one that you expect something from him/her, but deep down inside, I'm sure you expect a return of a favour, or time, or money, or whatever form of "love" that they may give you as well.

But Jesus showed us how to love one another, by the true meaning of love: 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. He came, he gave the word freely, he provided healing freely, he prayed for people freely, he sacrificed his time for people freely, he humbled himself to even wash his disciples' feet freely, and most of all, suffered for us freely. He gave, without expecting anything in return.

If you replace the word "love" in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 with "Jesus", the verses totally make sense. Why? Because Jesus himself embodied all the characteristics of love mentioned in the word. Jesus IS love, as God IS love. Now love never fails.

Having seen our role model for love, we now see that he commands us to continue this love in the world today. John 13: 34"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

Of course, we are humans. We can't love like Jesus did, purely because of who we are. But that doesn't mean that we can't strive to be like Jesus. After all, we always learn from role models, so what more our Lord Jesus Christ who is perfect in all ways?

So let's pray that we may grow to love like Jesus did.

1) Are we impatient?
2) Are we unkind?
3) Do we envy?
4) Do we boast?
5) Are we proud?
6) Are we rude?
7) Are we self-seeking?
8) Are we easily angered?
9) Do we keep record of wrongs?
10) Do we delight in evil and not rejoice with the truth?
11) Do we not protect, not trust, not hope and not persevere in our love?
12) Do we fail in our love?

If your answer is yes to any of the above, take some practical steps today to start loving like Christ did. Apply it to your life and open up your heart to people around you. Remember, if you want to share Christ, your lifestyle speaks more volumes than your words. If you start loving like Christ did, "all men will know that you are my disciples". Why not?

YVONNE :)

When I say "I am a Christian"

When I say "I am a Christian"I'm not shouting, "I am saved!"I'm whispering "I was lost."Thats why i chose His way.
When I say "I am a Christian."I don't speak of this with prideI'm confessing that I stumbledNeeding God to be my guide.
When I say "I am a Christian"I'm not trying to be strong,I'm professing that I'm weakAnd pray for strength to carry on.
When I say "I am a Christian"I still feel the string of pain.I have my share of heartaches,Which is why I speak His name.
When I say "I am a Christian"I do not wish to judge.I have no authority;I only know I'm loved.
